Two-time GRAMMY-nominated artiste Skip Marley has announced via social media that the remaining dates of his CHANGE TOUR will be postponed. This, after testing positive with COVID-19. He says the new dates will be announced soon. Skip’s announcement arrived following the release of a new rendition of his single “Change,” this time featuring Dancehall vocalist Beenie Man, and remixed by the award-winning producer Tony Kelly. The remix is accompanied by a series of powerful new animated visuals . Discussing the concept of the visuals, Skip explained, that ‘Change’ is about letting what matters most to us motivate us to do better. Earlier this year, Skip Marley released the single titled “Jane” featuring Nigerian-based Afropop sensation Ayra Starr. Toy company Mattel is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Tina Turner’s hit song with a Barbie created in her likeness. The doll, which is part of their Barbie Signature Music Series, is wearing an outfit inspired by the music video for one of her songs, “What’s Love Got to Do With It.” She’s in a black mini dress paired with a denim jacket — and don’t forget about that signature hairstyle. She retired from performing after her last tour, which ended in 2009.
While Dancehall and Reggae as a collective is at a standstill on the international scene, the Afrobeats sound continues to break musical barriers. This week, organizers of the AMAs announced its complete list of nominees and introduced for the first time, a new category strictly for Afrobeats. Other nominees include Bad Bunny, who leads the pack with eight nominations, followed by Beyonce, Drake, and Taylor Swift with six nominations each. The ceremony for the American Music Awards is scheduled to take place on November 21 at the Microsoft Theater in the US. Today I got to listen to a new single 'God Did' by AllLuvNoMercy featuring Dupes' & The Mecca inside KNC Radio listening sessions and I can’t help it but to brag! It’s on fire ! According to Dupes, "God Did is an introspective alternative hip-hop record with afrobeat and reggaeton molding the skeleton upon which visceral emotions are spewed. With lyrics like "I already walked on water before, what more could you ask for?" setting the tone, one can only expect a deeply personal song from two of the most accomplished urban acts from the Helen of The West". Over the years Dupes and The Mecca has produced, written and co-written singles, albums, mixtapes, and compilations for themselves and other artists in genres ranging from Gospel to Hip-Hop, Dancehall to Soca, Pop and Rock. Dupes and The Mecca has been hitmakers in Saint Lucia for over 15 years, with Dip Pon De Floor, Yes Garcon, Imagine, Impossible, African Lady, Welcome To Paradise, Seasons, Hungover, Your body and more.
