Kanye West wants to help Taylor Swift buy her masters back

Kanye West wants to help Taylor Swift buy her masters back.

The 'Shake It Off' singer has been embroiled in a very public feud with her former record label boss Scott Borchetta when he sold Big Machine records to Scooter Braun - whom Taylor has accused of bullying her - and with it handed Scooter her back catalogue of master recordings, which he now has the rights to, and now Kanye has offered to help her get them back.

He wrote on Twitter: "I'M GOING TO PERSONALLY SEE TO IT THAT TAYLOR SWIFT GETS HER MASTERS BACK.

"SCOOTER IS A CLOSE FAMILY FRIEND (sic)"

Kanye and Taylor famously fell out in 2009 when the 'Stronger' rapper interrupted the 'London Boy' singer's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) to claim Beyonce should have won the Best Female Video honour instead, but they later reconciled their differences.

However, things turned sour again after Kanye "sweetly" asked Taylor to present an award to him at the 2015 VMAs - only to tell a very different story on stage.

And then according to the 'Me!' singer, Kanye quickly apologised and they then had their notorious phone call about his song 'Famous' - in which he raps "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b**** famous" - and she felt like their friendship was back on track. However, after the song was released and Kanye's wife, Kim Kardashian West, subsequently insisted Taylor had approved the lyric, the singer decided she was "done" with Kanye.

She said of their long time feud: "Basically, I got really sick of the dynamic between he and I. And that wasn't just based on what happened on that phone call and with that song - it was kind of a chain reaction of things."

TikTok Sues Trump Administration to Block U.S. Ban

19/9/2020

Picture© Bloomberg The download page for ByteDance Ltd.'s TikTok app is arranged for a photograph on a smartphone in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on Monday, Sept. 14, 2020. Oracle Corp. is the winning bidder for a deal with TikTok’s U.S. operations, people familiar with the talks said, after main rival Microsoft Corp. announced its offer for the video app was rejected.
TikTok asked a judge to block the Trump administration from enacting a ban on the Chinese social-media network, as the company brought a geopolitical fight over technology and trade into a U.S. courtroom.

TikTok and its parent company, ByteDance Ltd., filed a complaint in Washington federal court late Friday night challenging President Donald Trump’s executive order that would block U.S. companies from doing business with them.

Trump exceeded his authority when he moved to ban the app, and did so for political reasons rather than to stop an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to the U.S., as the law requires, according to the complaint. TikTok also said the ban violates the company’s First Amendment free speech rights.|

Trump’s actions would “destroy an online community where millions of Americans have come together to express themselves,” according to the complaint. The company also claims that the U.S. Commerce Department “ignored evidence” showing TikTok’s commitment to privacy and security of its American users.

Trump issued the order abruptly after stating that TikTok didn’t “have any rights” and that he would ban the app if ByteDance didn’t pay the U.S. to secure government approval of a sale of its U.S. operations -- which the president later admitted would be unlawful, according to the complaint.

The suit comes as Trump steps up his campaign against China, betting that a hard line against Beijing will help him win November’s election despite upsetting millions of younger TikTok users. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo has urged American companies to bar Chinese applications from their app stores, part of his “Clean Network” guidance designed to prevent authorities in China from accessing personal data of U.S. citizens.

Steve Harvey defends Ellen DeGeneres amid show scandal: She's 'one of the coolest and kindest people'

18/9/2020

Steve Harvey is speaking out in support of his friend Ellen DeGeneres amid a very public scandal involving toxic workplace accusations against her daytime show.

The 63-year-old said called DeGeneres "one of the coolest and kindest people I've met in this business" during an appearance on PEOPLE (the TV Show!) Thursday.

He detailed how long he's known DeGeneres, noting that she's "the person that I've known for a number of years, that I saw back in the comedy club days, when we used to split time with the same management."

In July, several current and former staff members claimed the show fostered a toxic workplace culture. In interviews with Buzzfeed they detailed examples of sexual harassment and racially insensitive comments.

DeGeneres also faced accusations of rude behavior herself. The show has since experienced a massive shakeup after an internal investigation was launched. Executive producers Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman "parted ways with" the show.

Harvey reasoned that "people want to take something and make something out of everything," he said. "[Ellen] has no control over what every staff member does, what every producer does, you can't control that. You don't even know some of the stuff that's happening."

But he agreed that because "it's her name that's on the show" she had to "take the hit." Harvey said he would do the same on his own talk show.

The "Family Feud" host added how he doesn't believe DeGeneres, 62, has a "racist tendency."
"I'm a 63-year-old Black man. I've been Black the entire time. I ain't took no days off. I ain't experimented with nothing else. I ain't got nothing else going. I've been a Black dude my whole life. I know racism," he described.

"If I have a conversation with you, I know if you got racist tendency somewhere in you, because it radiates. I can feel it. I've been around a long time, man. That's not Ellen DeGeneres. That's just not her, period," he reiterated.

Harvey said when the news first broke, he texted the Emmy winner to "keep your head up" and thinks that she'll make a strong comeback in the fall when the show's new season premieres.
"I think Ellen's going to be absolutely fine myself. I really do," he said.

Kanye West is raising concerns after tweeting and deleting a disturbing message in which he wrote about being murdered and having his daughter North taken away from him.

“NORTHY I AM GOING TO WAR AND PUTTING MY LIFE ON THE LINE AND IF I AM MURDERED DON’T EVER LET WHITE MEDIA TELL YOU I WASNT A GOOD MAN,” West, 43, wrote in the tweet, adding, “WHEN PEOPLE THREATEN TO TAKE YOU OUT OF MY LIFE JUST KNOW I LOVE YOU”

He attached a photo of 7-year-old North, whom he shares with wife Kim Kardashian.

His message alarmed fans who saw the tweet before it disappeared.

“He needs help y’all,” one wrote. “Real help. Stop feeing into this.”

Another added, “We saw your deleted tweet. You need help from doctors, family and friends. this is not going to end well without that. first doctors.”

Several other fans echoed those sentiments, pleading with the rapper to seek help from medical professionals.
West, who announced he is running for president in the 2020 election, has long struggled with bipolar disorder.

Over the summer, he tweeted that he was trying to divorce Kardashian, 39. The KKW Beauty founder defended her husband, blaming the rant on his mental illness.

West also had a breakdown on stage during a presidential campaign rally in South Carolina at which he claimed he tried to have North aborted.

Keanu Reeves has teased 'The Matrix 4' is a "love story".

The 56-year-old star is set to reprise his role as Neo for the fourth instalment in the iconic sci-fi action franchise, and he has revealed Lana Wachowski has written a "beautiful" and "inspiring" script.

Appearing on BBC One's 'The One Show', he shared: "We have a wonderful director, Lana Wachowski, and she has written a beautiful script that is a love story, it's inspiring.

'It's another version, a call to wake up and it has some great action.

"It entertains, great action and all will be revealed."

The 'John Wick' actor admitted it was touch and go as to whether his cybercriminal alter ego would return.

He admitted: "No it didn't, it looked a little dire for Neo."

Neil Patrick Harris, who has a small part in the flick, appeared on SiriusXM's 'The Jess Cagle Show' this week, and he revealed the movie has "shifted" in style compared to the original trilogy.

Heaping praise on Lana's work, he said: "I think she has a great inclusive energy and her style has shifted visually from what she had done to what she is currently doing."

Meanwhile, Keanu recently praised the "thoughtful and effective protocols" in place on the set.

Filming recently resumed on the movie in Berlin after being put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic and Keanu has been impressed with the measures the production team have put in place to keep the set safe while not "interrupting" the "rhythm" of shooting.

He said: "There's some really thoughtful, effective protocols in place.

"And the rhythm of film-making has been not really impacted or interrupted in the sense of filming.
"But that's because of just all the hard work and organisation and again, thoughtfulness that's gone into the protocols."

The movie will see Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith return to the franchise, alongside series newcomers Neil, Priyanka Chopra and Jonathan Groff.

'The Matrix 4' is scheduled for release in 2022, 19 years after the third film, 'Matrix: Revolutions'.

Neymar banned two matches as league opens racism probe

18/9/2020

Picture© FRANCK FIFE Neymar was sent off after a clash with Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez
Neymar received a two-match ban Wednesday for his red card against Marseille as the French league announced it would open an investigation into accusations of racism by the Brazil forward against Alvaro Gonzalez.

Angel Di Maria will also be summoned to the league's next disciplinary commission meeting on September 23 over claims he spat at Marseille defender Gonzalez during PSG's 1-0 loss which ended with a mass brawl and five players sent off.

Sebastien Deneux, president of the disciplinary commission, said the evidence was not yet "sufficient" to substantiate the allegations of racist abuse and the investigation would study the images further.

The goal will be to establish "what was actually and what was actually heard", Deneux added, while insisting the commission would only rule on "objective, tangible elements."

PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa incurred a six-match ban for kicking out at Marseille left-back Jordan Amavi, who was hit with a suspension of three games after he too was dismissed.

Leandro Paredes was banned for two games after he was sent off for a clash with fellow Argentine Dario Benedetto, who was also red-carded and will be suspended for Marseille's game with Saint-Etienne on Thursday.

Prince William to join TED Talk on climate change next month

17/9/2020

Picture© Bang Showbiz Prince William
Prince William is set to make his first TED Talk appearance next month to discuss climate change.

The 38-year-old royal will be joining a virtual panel consisting of impassioned climate activists such as Al Gore, Jaden Smith, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Yemi Alade, and Don Cheadle, where they will discuss how the world can tackle climate change and ensure a healthier future for the planet.

The event, which has been named 'Countdown', will also be the first-ever free TED Talks conference, and will take place on October 10. Alongside the celebrity appearances, the event will bring together "scientists, activists, entrepreneurs, urban planners, farmers, CEOs, investors, artists, government officials," and more to "find the most effective, evidence-based ideas" to help combat climate change.

Whilst the conference will mark the first time William has spoken at a TED Talk, the royal has been vocal about climate change in the past, as he said last year the Earth is "at a tipping point". He said in December: "The earth is at a tipping point and we face a stark choice: either we continue as we are and irreparably damage our planet or we remember our unique power as human beings and our continual ability to lead, innovate and problem-solve.

"People can achieve great things. The next ten years present us with one of our greatest tests - a decade of action to repair the Earth. "Meanwhile, Chris Anderson, the Countdown founding partner and Head of TED, said he hopes to "unite all levels of society" with the upcoming conference.

In a statement, he said: "The moment to act on climate change has been upon us for too long, and now is the time to unite all levels of society - business leaders, courageous political actors, scientists and individuals - to get to net-zero emissions before 2050.

"Climate is a top priority for TED and members of our community, and we are proud to fully dedicate our organisation in the fight for our collective future."

Beyonce reference cut from Bollywood song after racist lyrics storm

17/9/2020

Picture© Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for TIDAL With 23 Grammy wins and a sales record of over 100 million albums worldwide, Beyoncé is undoubtedly one of the most influential figures in the history of pop music. Here's a look at some of the highlights from Queen Bey's life and illustrious career.
A song from an upcoming Bollywood film has been rewritten after social media users criticised the original lyrics as racist for glorifying fair skin and making an inappropriate reference to Black American pop star Beyonce.
The offending lyrics, which translated as 'After looking at you fair woman, Beyonce would feel shy', featured in a song from a film called Khaali Peeli, whose director Maqbool Khan swiftly apologised.
"(The) lyric in question was never intended racially," Khan said in a statement on Monday, adding that the film's makers were huge fans of Beyonce and had not meant any disrespect.
"The term 'goriya' (fair woman in Hindi) has been so often and traditionally used in Indian songs to address a girl, that it didn't occur to any of us to interpret it in a literal manner," he added.
A new version of the song, which drops the controversial line, is now available on music streaming applications, a spokeswoman for the film said.

India's film industry is often accused of feeding the country's obsession with fair skin and bias against darker faces, and the issue drew increased scrutiny during the Black Lives Matter protests earlier this year when Bollywood actors spoke up against racism.

Campaigners welcomed the criticism on Twitter over the song's lyrics. They said it was a rare challenge to Bollywood song lyrics and dialogues equating fairness with beauty that showed greater awareness about discrimination.
"The fact that Bollywood has been endorsing this trend is not new but I'm happy people have reacted. A decade ago, they wouldn't have," said Kavitha Emmanuel, founder of India's Dark Is Beautiful advocacy campaign.
"It's very sad that after so much of awareness we have a song like this today," she added, contrasting it with Beyonce's new visual album Black is King, released in July.

Cardi B files for divorce from rapper Offset, calling marriage 'irretrievably broken'

17/9/2020

Cardi B has filed for divorce from rapper husband Offset, describing their marriage as "irretrievably broken".
The couple tied the knot in September 2017 and have a two-year-old daughter, Kulture.
Court records show Grammy-winning hip-hop star Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, filed for divorce in Georgia on Tuesday.
The couple are living in a "bona fide state of separation," court documents state, and the marriage is "irretrievably broken".

And there are "no prospects for a reconciliation," the papers say.
Cardi B, 27, is asking for "primary physical custody" of Kulture and requests Offset, whose real name is Kiari Cephus, contributes to the child's "support and maintenance".
The now former couple have their marital home in Fulton County, Georgia, the legal papers state.
Cardi B and Offset married in secret, not revealing the news until a year after they walked down the aisle.
Their relationship appeared to be on the rocks amid rumours of his cheating and Offset took to the stage at Cardi B's Rolling Loud concert in 2018 to ask for forgiveness.

Offset, 28, is best known for performing with the chart-topping rap group Migos.
Cardi B is asking for the couple's assets to be split evenly.
The Bronx-born star has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years, going from cast member on reality TV series Love & Hip Hop: New York to one of the biggest artists in music.

She released her debut album, Invasion Of Privacy, in April 2018 and backed by the singles Bodak Yellow, I Like It and Be Careful topped the charts in the US.
The latter song is reportedly about Offset's alleged infidelity. Invasion Of Privacy won best rap album at the Grammys and was also nominated for album of the year.
In a February 2018 interview with Cosmopolitan, Cardi B explained why she did not leave Offset following allegations he had cheated.

"It's like everybody is coming down my neck like, 'Why are you not leaving him? You have low self-esteem'," she told the magazine.
"But that couldn't be farther from the truth. I don't have low self-esteem. I know I look good. I know I'm rich, I know I'm talented. I know I could get any man I want - any basketball player, football player."
However, the rapper said she wanted to work on her relationship with Offset, saying what he did was "not right" but "I ain't no angel".
Her latest single, WAP, the explicit duet with Megan Thee Stallion, hit number one in both the US and UK following its release in August.

Lionel Messi Wins Court Fight Over Trademark of His Logo

17/9/2020

Picture© Thomson Reuters Soccer Football - Pre Season Friendly - FC Barcelona v Gimnastic Tarragona - Camp Nou, Barcelona, Spain - September 12, 2020 FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi during the warm up before the match REUTERS/Albert Gea
Barcelona’s Lionel Messi won a European Union court fight over the trademark rights to his own logo.
The EU Court of Justice in Luxembourg upheld his earlier victory against a Spanish cycling clothes brand that owned the rights to the name “Massi.”

A lower EU tribunal was correct to see Messi’s reputation as “a relevant factor,” the top judges ruled on Thursday.
Messi has been trying since 2011 to get the bloc-wide trademark rights for a logo consisting of an emblem with an M, with the name Messi underneath. The EU’s intellectual property agency and the cycling clothes company owned by Jaume Masferrer Coma appealed the earlier decision that favored the soccer star.
Coma had previously blocked the Argentinian from getting the EU trademark, arguing that he already owned EU trademarks for his brand and allowing Messi to claim one would cause too much confusion with customers.
The case is: C-449/18 P.
